Roaring Return

Lindenwood University has implemented a phased return to campus and will begin the fall semester as scheduled on August 24. Lindenwood personnel and offices continue to be available for business by telephone and email. Lindenwood University-Belleville has scheduled four guest speakers during March. The presentations are part of the school’s 2009-2010 speaker series and are free and open to the public. This is a wonderful opportunity for LCIE students to fulfill their colloquium requirements.

Saint Charles, Mo. - Lindenwood University’s Board of Directors on Friday approved a plan to launch a new extension campus in Wildwood, Missouri. The site, scheduled to open in July, 2010, will be the 11th in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area operated by the university.

The Lindenwood University Student Government Association (LSGA) has organized a letter-writing campaign from 6 to 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, in the Connection Center on the first floor of the Spellmann Campus Center. Students will have the opportunity to voice their opposition to Senate Bill 784, which seeks to reduce the amount of financial aid awarded to those attending four-year private institutions through the state-funded Access Missouri grant program.

Lindenwood University’s Theatre Department will present Cole Porter’s musical of love on the high seas, “Anything Goes,” at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 25-27 and March 4-6.

This summer, Lindenwood University’s Nonprofit Administration program will hold a three-day Summer Youth Leadership Summit called the Lion’s Pride Project, designed for high school students who are interested in careers in the nonprofit sector.

Lindenwood University’s Theatre Department will present William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, a comic tale of mistaken identity, at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18 to 20 in the university’s Emerson Black Box Theater.

The Lindenwood University School of Communications will host a professional media workshop from 6-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, in the university Cultural Center. Emmy Award-winning director and actor Bobby Miller and St. Louis-based casting director Joni Tackette will discuss the secret language actors share on-set, how to direct a scene, and more.

The Lindenwood University School of Education has formed a new Reading Advisory Council designed to promote effective literary practices among schools in the region. Members exchanged ideas and discussed the group’s mission during the council’s inaugural meeting on Jan. 21 in the Spellmann Campus Center.
