The new documentary, “Boom: A Video Documenting the History of St. Charles County from 1945 to 1964,” will debut at a premier event at Lindenwood University on Jan. 17, 2008. The film is based on a portion of St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann’s book, “Crossroads: A History of St. Charles County, Missouri” (2004, Lindenwood Press).
Lindenwood University will join a select group of universities and conservatories throughout the world who carry the “All Steinway” designation with the opening of its new Center for Fine and Performing Arts in fall 2008. The university will purchase 27 Steinway-designed pianos for use in the new center and throughout the Lindenwood campus.
Professor Geri Schultz and the students in her international business class have arranged to have thousands of bottles of water transported to the drought-stricken town of Orme, Tenn., on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 20. A truck with the water will leave Lindenwood’s campus at 7 a.m. for Orme, which is three hours from St. Charles.
Lindenwood University will host the finals of its inaugural televised High School History Bowl at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, in the studios of its television station, LU TV-26 in Young Hall on the main campus at 209 S. Kingshighway in St. Charles.
The Lindenwood University Department of Theatre will continue its 2007-2008 Mainstage Season with the holiday favorite, “A Christmas Carol,” based on the story by Charles Dickens and directed by Ted Gregory, director of Lindenwood’s theatre program.
Tuition at Lindenwood University will climb 2.4 percent next fall to $12,700 per year, about the same rate as the projected Consumer Price Index.
Lindenwood University history professor Jeff Smith has won the Lindenwood President’s Scholar-Teacher award. He was presented a plaque by President James D. Evans at the school’s faculty meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
The late Dennis Spellmann, who as president helped turn Lindenwood University into an NAIA powerhouse, was inducted posthumously October 20 into Lindenwood’s inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame class.
Edward Morris, dean of the Division of Management at Lindenwood University, has been named Professor of the Year by the Lindenwood Student Government Association. The award was presented to Morris by Megan Shipley, president of the student government, at the Lindenwood faculty meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
Lindenwood University philosophy professor David Brown has been named recipient of the 2007 Emerson Award for Excellence in Teaching. He was notified of the award in a presentation by Lindenwood President James D. Evans at the school’s faculty meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 10. He will be formally presented the award at a ceremony at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Clayton in November.
