Senior Dan Sonderman has won the Fleishman-Hillard Inc. Scholarship of $1,500 in competition sponsored by the Journalism Foundation of Metropolitan St. Louis.

Valerie Riley, a junior at Lindenwood University, has received a national award called the NextGen Leaders Award from American Humanics, Inc. Riley, a resident of Imperial, will receive a $4,500 stipend to help cover living and educational expenses while completing an internship with the Carondelet YMCA.
Starting in September, the Lindenwood University Campus YMCA will offer a state-licensed child care program on-site to evening students at the university.
Randy Biggerstaff, head athletic trainer at Lindenwood University, has been named NAIA Head Certified Athletic Trainer of the Year by the National Athletic Trainers Association. The award is the second significant honor for Biggerstaff this year, in which he was also named to the Mid-American Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame.
Lindenwood University will host a panel discussion on blogging as part of Media Literacy Week at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, at the main Lindenwood campus in St. Charles. The two-hour event will be in the Anheuser Busch Leadership Room on the fourth floor of the Spellmann Campus Center.
Lindenwood University has named veteran faculty member Dominic Soda as its chief information officer. As part of his duties, he will oversee implementation of a new, comprehensive information system that will integrate all aspects of Lindenwood operations, including Admissions, Academic Services, the Business Office and Financial Aid.
Lindenwood University will have the ability to send emergency text messages to many of its students this fall. President James D. Evans has signed a contract with clearTXT, a company that will provide the service. Evans said the university will only use the service for important alerts and emergencies.
Richard A. Boyle, Ph.D., Lindenwood’s dean of faculty and vice president of human resources, was recently named Educator of the Year by the St. Louis Association of Secondary School Principals. He received the award at a ceremony Thursday, May 10, at the St. Charles Convention Center.
