Student Life, Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise

A trio of Lindenwood students has developed an app that they say could change the way college students communicate. Diego Kafie, Alcides Zeleya and Elisa Schwarz have partnered to create a free social networking app called Kampus. The three Lindenwood scholars recently won a Shark Tank-like competition held on campus in November, judged by none other than Shark Tank’s Daymond John.

Lindenwood University Press recently published the debut edition of the Missouri Policy Journal, an online journal that focuses on issues of interest to the state’s public policy makers, as well as to those interested in the subject.

Lindenwood University’s Department of Nonprofit Administration will host a Reverse Career Fair from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, on the St. Charles campus. All participating students will be recent or upcoming graduates of the school’s nonprofit administration degree program who will host stations designed to highlight their professional skills.

The Lindenwood University Theatre Department will present a modern musical classic, Into the Woods, at 7:30 p.m. on February 20-22, 2014, at the university’s Bezemes Family Theater.

Turner to Lead Grant Writing Basics Workshops

Lindenwood University’s Department of Nonprofit Administration will offer grant writing workshops in March and April 2014, hosted by Julie Turner, PhD, associate professor and chair of the school’s Nonprofit Administration Department. The workshops will take place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 8, in the Memorial Arts Building’s Latzer Hall on the St. Charles campus.

Lindenwood University’s Board of Directors on Friday approved a 2.9 percent increase in the undergraduate tuition rate for the 2014-2015 academic year. The total expense for residential undergraduates, including tuition, fees, room, and board, will go up by 2.3 percent.

The Lindenwood University-Belleville baseball program and Head Coach Logan Johnson have announced the addition of former major league pitcher and local standout Randy Wells to the 2014 coaching staff. Wells will be a volunteer assistant for this year’s team.

The Lindenwood University Speaker Series, in cooperation with the university’s Gender Studies Program, will present Christopher Vu Gandin Le, CEO of Emotion Technologies, to lead a conversation about men and gender studies at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 6, in the Spellmann Center’s Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room.
