Lindenwood University has committed to partnering with Matter, a local organization dedicated to advancing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education and careers, to introduce the Academy of Racing Science to middle schools throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan Area. The innovative program brings STEM curricula to life for secondary school students through interactive experiences at Pole Position Raceway in St. Louis, Mo.

Lindenwood University-Belleville’s Speaker Series continues when lawyer turned filmmaker Dawn Porter speaks on the topic of “Public Defenders: The Keepers of Civil Rights” on March 13 at 7 p.m. in the Lindenwood Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

Lindenwood University and the Community Council of St. Charles County will host a panel discussion addressing the topics of community need and poverty titled “Helping that Affirms Human Dignity,” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 10. The event will take place in the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Event Room of Spencer Road Library, located at 427 Spencer Road, St. Peters, Mo., 63376.

Lindenwood University student Josh Pauls is a member of the United States Paralympic Sled Hockey team that will travel to Sochi, Russia, to compete in the 2014 Paralympic Games March 7-16. The team will depart for Munich, Germany on Friday, Feb. 28, to complete processing and receive uniforms, and then travel on to the games in Sochi.

Student Life, Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise

A trio of Lindenwood students has developed an app that they say could change the way college students communicate. Diego Kafie, Alcides Zeleya and Elisa Schwarz have partnered to create a free social networking app called Kampus. The three Lindenwood scholars recently won a Shark Tank-like competition held on campus in November, judged by none other than Shark Tank’s Daymond John.

Missouri Policy Journal Publishes First Edition

Lindenwood University Press recently published the debut edition of the Missouri Policy Journal, an online journal that focuses on issues of interest to the state’s public policy makers, as well as to those interested in the subject.
