Lindenwood University’s American Humanics program received the Points of Light Foundation Excellence in Community Service and Volunteerism Award at the American Humanics Management Institute, held January 3-6 in Washington, DC.


Lindenwood University is teaming up with Act II Community Theater in St. Peters, Mo., to bring Neil Simon’s classic, “The Odd Couple,” to the Lindenwood Auditorium stage at the university’s Belleville campus.


Lindenwood University will be a host site for the annual MAA (Mathematics Association of America) Mathematics Competition for high school students on Wednesday, Feb. 21. Thirty-three students from the St. Charles County area will try to qualify for the United States Mathematical Olympiad in April; top finishers may also qualify for scholarships to Lindenwood.


Award-winning poet John Brandi, whose works have appeared in publications around the world, will speak at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, in the Downstage Theatre (room 101) in Harmon Hall on Lindenwood University’s main campus at 209 S. Kingshighway in St. Charles.

The Lindenwood University Intercultural Club will hold a ceremony in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, in the Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room of the Spellmann Campus Center.

Lindenwood University has announced it will match an education grant given to members of AmeriCorps, a government program in which participants can earn money for college while working in various community service initiatives.

Lindenwood University has received approval to offer its first doctoral program ever—a Doctor of Education degree. The program will launch in the spring 2007 semester, and classes are being scheduled now.


Lindenwood University will offer $5,000 scholarships to three high school seniors with winning projects in the upcoming St. Charles Regional Science Fair. The renewable scholarships will be extended to fair winners who plan to pursue degrees as science teachers.


Terry L. St. Clair, assistant professor of criminal justice, has been honored with the 2006 President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. St. Clair received the award Nov. 30 at the Lindenwood University faculty meeting.


Lindenwood University professor Rebecca Panagos was presented an Emerson Award for Excellence in Teaching in a ceremony on Sunday, November 19, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Clayton.
