Daniel P. Erikson, Caribbean foreign policy expert, will speak on the future of Cuba in the second installment of the 2009-10 Lindenwood University Speaker Series. The presentation will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, in the Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room of the Spellmann Center.
The Lindenwood University St. Charles Alumni Club will host its 15th Annual Fashion Show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Lindenwood University Club at 600 Old Friedens Road. Proceeds from the fundraising event, which includes a luncheon and silent auction, will benefit the university’s scholarship fund.
Lindenwood University will observe Media Literacy week by hosting two forums during the week of Oct. 4-10 in the Anheuser Busch Leadership Room at the Spellmann Campus Center. “Creating Media Literacy Standards for the Upcoming Fifth Missouri Standards (MSIP) Cycle” will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, and “Creating Media Smart Students: Media Literacy for 21st Century Learning,” will take place from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8.
The latest edition of Lindenwood University’s Connection magazine is hot off the presses. The alumni publication features 20 pages of university news, a photo spread on the well-attended alumni picnic, features on many alums, and much more. It also includes a schedule of Homecoming activities.
A fun-filled Robotics Kickoff for FIRST LEGO® League (FLL) and First Tech Challenge (FTC) teams ages six to 18 will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at Hyland Performance Arena at Lindenwood University in St. Charles. The event is coordinated and sponsored by the Partners for Progress of Greater St. Charles.
The Lindenwood University Psychology Department will host the Fifth Missouri Undergraduate Psychology Conference (MUPC) on Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7. The event will feature a keynote address and presentations by students and alumni who have conducted research in the past year on a variety of topics within the field of psychology.
Lindenwood University President James D. Evans, Ph.D., talked this week to his faculty about the invigorating and exciting progress made at the university during his first three years in office. “Where We Have Traveled and Where We Might Go,” discussed many positive aspects of the school’s financial growth, donor and alumni participation rates, specific outcomes of plans, and student enrollment increases.
Author and Sudanese activist John Dau will speak at Lindenwood University at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, to start the school’s 2009-10 Speaker Series. The event will be in the Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room of the Spellmann Center on the main Lindenwood campus, 209 S. Kingshighway in St. Charles. Admission for all speaker series events is free and open to the public.
Lindenwood University will welcome students back to class on Monday, Aug. 24. To ease the transition into college life, all incoming freshman will participate Aug. 19-23 in a First-Year Experience course designed to familiarize them with university resources.
The St. Louis Rams will hold an open scrimmage on Friday, August 7, at 6:30 p.m. at Harlen C. Hunter on the Lindenwood campus. The scrimmage is scheduled to last approximately two hours and will be followed by an autograph session by the players. Admission to the scrimmage and parking are both free.
