Lindenwood University has established a new political science award to honor former Illinois State Senator and GOP Minority Leader Frank Watson. The Frank Watson Political Science Award will be presented to a student from Lindenwood University-Belleville annually at the university’s Honors Convocation.

More than 200 athletes from Lindenwood University were among the army of volunteers working at this year’s Mo’ Cowbell Marathon last month in historic St. Charles. The work of volunteers resulted in a donation of $10,000 to the St. Charles City-County Library Foundation.

J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts

The Lindenwood University Theatre Department will present its annual production of the holiday favorite A Christmas Carol at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 5-7 in the university’s Bezemes Family Theater.

Academics, School of Health Sciences

The Lindenwood athletic training program is the only one of its kind in the St. Louis area and does an incredible job preparing its students to enter a growing field. Lindenwood’s faculty are among the best qualified in the nation. Our top students work with professional sports teams, including the NFL St. Louis Rams. Lindenwood University’s Board of Directors approved on Friday, Nov. 9, 2013 the construction of a second new residence hall and the addition of four new sports at the Belleville campus. The new dormitory will be the second to be constructed in less than a year as the Lindenwood University continues to experience record enrollment.

Lindenwood University’s 2013-14 Speaker Series will continue with branding and marketing expert, author, Shark Tank investor, and FUBU Clothing CEO Daymond John at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, at Lindenwood’s Bezemes Family Theatre. Tickets are required and available for free at the J. Scheidegger Center Box office.

Lindenwood University has purchased a new online learning platform known as Blackboard Collaborate, which will soon make it easier to for students and staff to engage in a state-of-the-art virtual learning environment. It will allow educators and learners in different locations to communicate with one another as if both parties were in the same classroom.

Lindenwood University will be recognized for job creation—particularly as it is related to its new School of Nursing and Allied Health-- at the 26th Annual Excellence in Community Awards Banquet hosted by civic group Progress 64 West, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the Doubletree Hotel by Hilton in Chesterfield.

School of Health Sciences

The degree allows current registered nurses to complete a bachelor’s degree in nursing in about two years. Increasingly, hospitals are requiring four-year degrees from nursing candidates, according to industry sources. The new degree program is available immediately.

Lindenwood University will host the Greater St. Louis Marching Band Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2. Fifteen groups from around the state will participate in the inaugural event, which will take place in Hunter Stadium.
