Meaghan Murphy, a Lindenwood University junior studying accounting, has been named the recipient of the university’s 2015 Pachyderm scholarship, which is presented in cooperation with the St. Charles Country Pachyderm Club.
Murphy, a resident of St. Charles, Mo., transferred to Lindenwood in fall 2014 from St. Charles Community College, which she attended on the A+ scholarship program. In addition to her major, she is pursuing a minor in graphic design. The Pachyderm scholarship, a $1,000 award, renewable annually, was presented to Murphy at a dinner on April 24.
A graduate of Wentzville Timberland High School, Murphy played volleyball throughout her high school years and was named her team’s offensive player of the year and MVP in her senior year. She is employed as an accounting specialist and project scheduler for a local robotics company and has also coached an area youth volleyball team for the past four years.
After graduation, she intends to seek a master’s in accounting and would like to start and co-own and run a sports facility.
