Dance Squad Ranked 8th in Nation

The Lindenwood University Lion Line Dance Squad is ranked eighth nationally in the Open Division of the Universal Dance Association.

The Lion Line participated in the association's annual competition at Disney/MGM Studios in Orlando, Fla. January 7-9. This is the first time the Lion Line has taken part in the competition.

The squad of 11 women performed an original dance called "The Dream," choreographed by co-captains Crystal Morgan of St. Charles, Mo. and Mandi Pruett of Liberty, Mo.

Other participating dancers on the Lindenwood Lion Line included Desiree Blanc of Florissant, Mo.; Angela Kammermeyer of Calverton Park, Mo., Heather Kelley of St. Charles, Mo., Kristy Kraemer of Bridgeton, Mo., Shannon Lueders of Florissant, Mo., Lynea Nessing of Godfrey, Ill., Meg Sandau of Florissant, Mo., Emily Turay of St. Charles, Mo., and Katie VanDillen of Florissant, Mo.

"I have never seen our women dance so well," said Alice Bloch, director of Lindenwood's dance program. "We received so many compliments on our dancing. It is unusual for a squad to be ranked nationally the first time it participates in a competition. I am so proud of our dancers."

The Lion Line dance squad performs at Lindenwood sporting events. Members of the squad also participate in Lindenwood dance concerts throughout the year.
