Lindenwood University-Belleville will host nine Greek associations for a forum on Friday, March 4 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
All Lindenwood Belleville students are invited to attend the informational meeting, in which representatives from each of the Greek societies will present on their own organization. After presentations, students will be able to meet one-on-one with the representatives in a question and answer session held in the university’s Welcome Center. The attending Greek associations will include local chapters from: Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Omega Psi Phi, Kappa Alpha Psi, Sigma Gamma Rho, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, and Iota Phi Theta.
Sponsored by Lindenwood Belleville’s Black Student Leadership Union (BSLU), the forum is the first step in the process of selecting and adopting Greek societies on campus. The university hopes to install its new chapters by fall 2011.
“We are excited that so many Greek organizations have an interest in starting a chapter here,” said Tiare’ Vaughn, president of BSLU. “The forum will give LU-Belleville students the chance to learn more about the different societies so that we can incorporate those they will be interested in joining.”
“I think the fact that a student club actually organized this forum on behalf of the Lindenwood Belleville student body shows the high level of interest in incorporating Greek societies on campus," said Dr. Angela Wingo, dean of student services. "We are looking forward to providing our students with another way to relate to one another and grow as individuals.”
