Hartlieb Returns Home for Busch Stadium Debut

Geoff Hartlieb, from Lindenwood University’s class of 2016, became the first Lindenwood Lion to make it to baseball’s major leagues earlier this season with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. On Saturday, Aug. 10, he made his Busch Stadium debut in a game between the Pirates and the Cardinals, appearing late and facing two batters—retiring one on a sacrifice fly and another on a ground-out. Hartlieb’s appearance and his ties to Lindenwood and home town Highland, Ill., prompted on-air discussions in the Cardinals’ broadcast booth, a mention in a story on, and a segment on KSDK, channel 5.
