Lady Lions Storm Back to Win HAAC Tourney

With five minutes left in the Heart of America Athletic Conference title game, Lindenwood University's Lady Lions trailed by 12 points at home against Central Methodist.

The Eagles smelled an upset of the nation's 10th-ranked team. But the Lady Lions would have nothing of it, mounting the most memorable comeback in Lindenwood history with a 17-point turnaround for a 73-68 win.

Katie Cannon scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half, including two clutch three-pointers in the waning minutes. She also had two steals in the comeback that forced CMC into four turnovers in the final two minutes.

Senior forward Jaime Bonney scored 22 points and had 11 rebounds, and freshman Julieanne Van Daniker had nine points.

The victory boosts Lindenwood's record to 28-5 going into the national tournament March 8-14 in Sioux City, Iowa.
