Leo the Lion Wins Second Consecutive Mascot Dance-Off, Beats Fredbird

Lindenwood University’s beloved mascot Leo the Lion won a mascot competition at Mid Rivers Mall on Oct. 29. The community event, called The Mascot Dance-Off, featured a competitive field of local mascots that included the St. Louis Cardinals mascot, Fredbird.

“The Mascot Dance-Off is a great event that allows local schools and businesses to connect with the community they serve in a fun atmosphere,” said Amber Westerson, Marketing Director for Mid Rivers Mall. “It's definitely an entertaining event and fun for the entire family.”

The other mascot competitors included Bushwacker of the St. Louis Ambush indoor soccer team, Spartacus from Missouri Baptist University, Shopkins Kooky Cookie and Apple Blossom, Merle from Martian Car Wash, and Fredbird.

Leo drew cheers from the crowd with acrobatic dance moves, connecting with a flip and the splits. Leo’s agility helped him head home with the disco ball trophy.

Leo also won The Mascot Dance-Off at Chesterfield Mall last year.
