The undefeated and No. 3-ranked Lindenwood University Lions football squad is heading to Rome, GA December 19 to compete for the NAIA national championship. The Lions earned the trip with a victory Saturday over No. 2 Carroll, MT. The Lions will face No. 1 Sioux Falls.
Lindenwood defeated Carroll 42-35 in a Helena, MT snowstorm. The weather didn’t affect the Lions' offense, though, as it put up 570 yards of total offense against one of the top defenses in the NAIA. The final 10 yards came from a Philip Staback pass to Matt Bramow for a game-winning touchdown with 55 seconds remaining.
In the national championship game, Lindenwood will have its hands full against one of the top teams in NAIA history. Sioux Falls’ offense nearly matches Lindenwood’s firepower with over 50 points a game, and its defense is the top in the nation by allowing less than 10 points a game.
Kickoff time for the national championship game is 11 a.m. (central time). The game will be broadcast nationally on CBS College Sports.
