Media Bias Topic of Lecture April 16

Jeffrey Milyo, Ph.D., will present his talk, “A Social Science Perspective on Media Bias,” at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, as part of series hosted by Lindenwood’s Institute for the Study of Economics and the Environment.

Co-hosted by Lindenwood’s School of Business and Entrepreneurship, the presentation will be held at Lindenwood University’s Cultural Center, which is located at 400 N. Kingshighway, two blocks north of the main Lindenwood campus in St. Charles. Admission is free and open to the public.

Milyo is a senior fellow with the CATO Institute and has a joint appointment as a full professor in the University of Missouri-Columbia Department of Economics and the Truman School of Public Affairs. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Missouri, Milyo served on the faculty at the University of Chicago and at Tufts University. After earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Connecticut, Milyo earned a Ph.D. from Stanford University.

Milyo has been featured on FoxNews, MSNBC, and the ABC news program 20/20 with John Stossel.

In his lecture, Milyo will highlight research he has conducted that he says demonstrates the presence of a strong liberal bias in the American media. He will present his research in the context of the renewed national discussion regarding the fairness doctrine.
