Lindenwood University-Belleville hosted the first Miss Metro East Pageant on campus on Jan. 18 and served as the premiere location for young women seeking to earn this title.
Contestants competed in the categories of Miss Metro East (age 17-24), Miss Metro East Outstanding Teen (13-17), Miss Metro East Outstanding Preteen (10-12), and Miss Metro East Princess (5-9).
Current Miss Illinois Brittany Smith served as the master of ceremonies for the pageant. The winners included Miss Metro East Dairyn Tye (age 20) from Troy, Ill.; Miss Metro East Outstanding Teen Kelsey Strong (age 17) from Metropolis, Ill.; Miss Metro East Outstanding Preteen Rylee Hoffman (age 12) from Troy, Ill.; and Miss Metro East Princess Madison Rae (age 9) from Edwardsville, Ill.
Tye, Strong, and Hoffman will advance to compete for the titles of Miss Illinois, Miss Illinois Outstanding Teen, and Miss Illinois Outstanding Preteen, respectively, in Marion, Ill., this June. Rae will move on to the Miss Illinois Princess Mentoring Program with the Miss Illinois contestants. Miss Illinois is a preliminary pageant for Miss America.
Lindenwood University-Belleville is offering scholarships to the winners and other contestants of the Miss Metro East pageant who meet the criteria for admission. All participants are encouraged to contact the Admissions Department at (618) 239-6057 to learn more.
“I’m so excited to have this amazing opportunity,” said Tye, “and I can’t wait to transfer to Lindenwood University Belleville. The campus is beautiful.”
