Lindenwood University’s vice president for enrollment management, Dr. Joe Parisi, and director of evening and graduate admissions, Tyler Kostich, recently received an Employer Support Freedom Award, which is given in recognition of an employer’s support for employees who serve in the military.
The award was presented by Col. Sandy Artman (ret.), program manager for Troops 2 Transportation and Logistics, along with Justin Knoesel, Lindenwood’s military admissions specialist. Knoesel, who currently serves in the Army National Guard, nominated Parisi and Kostich for the award.
The award is a vehicle of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment.
“I am honored to be recognized by Justin and ESGR,” Kostich said. “Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve helps safeguard those who make additional sacrifices to ensure our country’s safety. As a previous National Guardsman, I understand the additional commitments required by the guard and reserve and am happy that Justin recognizes our support of his additional duties and sacrifices as a military member.”
Parisi said the award is a nice reflection of the university’s support for its employees and students who serve in the military.
“At Lindenwood, we deeply appreciate this recognition and feel proud to support all of our students and employees that have committed to all military branches, including active guard and reserve duty,” Parisi said. “It is through their commitments that we can all enjoy our sense of liberty and pride.”
