The Lindenwood University Single Mothers Program has received a $5,000 donation from the Southwestern Bell Foundation. The Single Mothers Program provides a safe haven and stable environment for women with young children while they pursue a college education at Lindenwood University, helping them prepare for employment, family leadership and service to society.
According to Craig Felzien, regional director of external affairs at Southwestern Bell and member of the Lindenwood University Board of Directors, the SBC Foundation has distributed hundreds of millions of dollars through grants, United Way support and employee outreach efforts since its founding in 1984. As the philanthropic arm of SBC Communications Inc., the Foundation is a private foundation, funded by SBC and its family of companies.
"We're grateful to the Southwestern Bell Foundation for supporting this worthwhile program," said Lindenwood President Dennis Spellmann. "At Lindenwood, we believe that education is the key to so many things, and the program like this one help create opportunity where it might not have existed before."
