The Lady Lions won their first-round match Wednesday in the NAIA softball national championships with a 3-0 victory over Georgian Court College of New Jersey.
Sallie Henry struck out six Georgian Court batters and scattered four hits in the game.
The Lady Lions scored all their runs in the fifth inning. With one out, Tamara Waltz doubled and advanced on Karen Peer's base hit. Michelle Patrico then drove in Waltz with a single.
Next up was Jacque Woosley, who singled, driving in Peer. And with Lady Lions up 2-0, Dawn Cameron singled and drove in Patrico for an insurance run.
Both Peer and Woosley went 2-for-4 on the day for Lindenwood.
The No. 5-seeded Lady Lions are now 34-10 on the season. Lindenwood plays the No. 4 seed, Mary N.D., which has a 40-3 record, at 3 p.m. CST today
