Starks had an outstanding week for the Lynx, which included leading his team to two victories over very talented opponents. He averaged 21 points, 3.5 rebounds and 36 minutes per game in two games at the McDonald’s Classic over the past weekend.
Starks, a sophomore transfer from Idaho State, was very happy to be honored.
“This feels pretty good and shows that hard work pays off,” he said.
Starks was quick to point out that this individual honor was a team effort “This is a team victory for us," he said. "This award is great for our school and for this team.”
Starks was named to the All-Tournament Team this past weekend at the Classic along with teammate Rashad May. In the first game, Starks led the offense with 22 points, helping the Lynx to hand Bethel University its first loss of the season.
In the second game, he was even more impressive. While scoring 20 points, he made two clutch free throws at the end of the game to knock off the NAIA's No. 8 team, McKendree University, 64-60.
