1098 Tax Form Now Available Online

Lindenwood University has partnered with Sallie Mae to offer the 1098-T tax form online. The form is essential in determining eligibility for HOPE Scholarship Credit or Lifetime Learning Credit deductions.

“Students will need to have this form when they prepare their taxes, and making it available online is a more convenient way for them to access it when they need it,” said Chris Rumsey, Business Office Representative. “The only students who wouldn’t need the form are those who have grant amounts that exceed tuition-related expenses or international students.”

The form can be accessed by clicking here and creating a personalized profile. Once an account has been created, students will be able to view and print their 2009 1098-T forms as well as forms from consecutive years.

“Students should still receive a copy of the 1098-T in the mail,” Rumsey said. “But if they misplace it or something happens it’s comforting to know they can visit the website, login, and print another copy for their records.”

Lindenwood cannot determine HOPE Scholarship Credit and Lifetime Learning Credit tax deduction eligibility. For assistance, individuals must consult a tax advisor, refer to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Publication #970 (Tax Benefits for Education), or contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. Lindenwood’s federal identification number is 43-0652649.
