Director and Assistant of Student Life and Leadership Named

Lindenwood University has hired Angela Royal as its new Director of Student Life and Leadership and Nicole Cornwell as Associate Director of Student Life and Leadership, effective July 2, 2012. 

Angie Royal and Nicole CornwellRoyal comes to Lindenwood from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she had served since 2007 as director of new student programs. She holds from the university an undergraduate degree in workforce education development with an emphasis in business education, as well as a master's degree in higher education with an emphasis in college student personnel.

In her new position at Lindenwood, Royal is responsible for facilitating and scheduling campus activities, coordinating student organizations, and managing student facilities such as the Evans Commons. She also plans to create additional campus activities, spotlight social hubs on campus, and increase involvement from both residential and commuter students.

"Involvement is critical to student success," Royal said. "I'm looking forward to working closely with students to coordinate co-curricular activities and organizations that will help them develop into tomorrow's leaders, while also having a lot of fun!"

As associate director, Cornwell is responsible for assisting Royal in the management of student programs, overseeing the daily operations of the Evans Commons, and managing student organizations. She will also teach freshman orientation courses.

"I'm ready to meet the students and talk with them about what they would like to see taking place on campus in terms of activities," Cornwell said. "I would also love to explore increased involvement from Lindenwood’s evening and weekend students."

Prior to coming to Lindenwood, Cornwell had served since 2008 as the program director of student involvement at Westminster College in Fulton, Mo. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing with a minor in communications from Fontbonne University and a master's degree in college student personnel administration from the University of Central Missouri.

"We are excited to have these two additions to the Student Life and Leadership team," said John Oldani, Vice President for Student Development at Lindenwood. "Angela and Nicole have a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be of great benefit to our students and will help raise our activities program to an even higher level."
