Chris Cluess, writer for television shows like “Newhart,” “Night Court,” “SCTV” and many others will present a pair of writing workshops Friday and Saturday at Lindenwood University.
While the Friday event, from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, March 13, is specifically for Lindenwood students, a second workshop from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, is open to the public. There is no admission charge.
Both programs are in the Emerson Black Box Theater, which is housed in Lindenwood’s J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts at 2300 West Clay Street in St. Charles, 63301.
Students in the Lindenwood Schools of Communications and Fine and Performing Arts will attend a workshop with Cluess from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday in the Emerson Black Box Theater. Then, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Cluess will offer a “Comedy Lab” for Lindenwood students, staff and the general public.
Cluess began his career as one of the original writers for National Lampoon and then went on to be a writer, executive producer, producer, and actor on such TV classics as Night Court, The Simpsons, MadTV, SCTV, Cheers, Newhart, and many other television shows.
Recently the Machinima Comedy Lab hired Cluess and 14 other superstar TV comedy writers to develop comedy web series pilots, four of which will get the green light to be produced for Webcasting.
