Lindenwood University’s Black Student Union will host a Martin Luther King, Jr., Day program at 12 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, in the third floor atrium of the Spellmann Campus Center.
The program will consist of readings of excerpts from King’s speeches by students Reggie Cunningham, Connie Jones and Charo Richardson, as well as an address by Lindenwood President James D. Evans, Ph.D. A banner commemorating the event will be on display, and keepsake bookmarks will be given to all in attendance.
“This year marks the first time the Black Student Union (BSU) is hosting the MLK Day event,” said Cathy Hart, faculty sponsor of the Black Student Union. “The entire program is designed and conducted by students, and, given the timing and location, we are expecting a broad participation. BSU is optimistic that the entire Lindenwood community will benefit and be energized by this opportunity to participate in Dr. King’s dream.”
The Spellmann Center is located on Lindenwood's main campus at 209 S. Kingshighway in St. Charles, Mo., 63301.
