Men’s Basketball Recruits Six Local Players for Coming Year

The Lindenwood University-Belleville head men’s basketball coach Vincent Meninno has announced the signing of local athletes Jahkeal Samuel, Rodarius Mitchell, Fermin Jeff, Jake Hall, Reagan Snider, Brenden Gillman, Ernest Docker, JC Moll, and Jaron Gaston for the 2018-2019 season.

“We are very excited about our recruiting class this year,” Meninno said. “Rebuilding a program takes time, and we are committed to doing it the right way with quality people as well as quality basketball players. We feel that this class is a great mix of experienced players who will contribute right away as well as help establish several key building blocks for the future.”

With six of the nine signees from the greater Metro East and St. Louis areas, Meninno is also excited about all of the local talent joining the program and the positive impact that has.

“We are in a great recruiting area that has a lot of talented players,” he said. “As we build our program, we want to make sure we build great relationships with, players, coaches, and families.”

Jeff, a 6-2 guard from St. Louis, Mo., joins the Lynx after spending the last two seasons at Shawnee Community College. Jeff graduated from Ritenour High School in 2016 after leading the Huskies in scoring at 17.4 points per game. At Shawnee, he continued his success averaging 6.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists.

Hall, a 6-7 center from Collinsville, Ill., will be a freshman after finishing his prep career at Marquette Catholic in Alton, Ill., this year. Hall helped lead the explorers to a 29-1 record his senior season. They ultimately fell the in Region Championship game to Columbia, Ill. While at Marquette, Hall averaged 13.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.

Snider, a 5-11 guard from Alton, Ill., will also be joining the Lynx as a freshman from Marquette Catholic. In addition to averaging 12 points, three rebounds, and five assists, Snider was also named to the State Farm Scholar Athlete team for Illinois.

Gillmann, a 6-3 guard from Oakville, Mo., played his prep career at Oakville High School, where he lead the Tigers in points, rebounds, assists, and field goal percentage during his senior season. Gillmann averaged 18.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists all while shooting 43.4 percent from the field.

Moll, a 5-10 guard from Pinkneyville, Ill., will join the Lynx as a freshman for the 2018-2019 season. He finished his prep career at Pinkneyville High School by leading the Panthers to the Illinois State Final Four during the 2017-2018 season. Moll averaged 13.3 points, two rebounds, and 3.7 assists while shooting 46 percent from three-point range. Moll was selected to the ISHA coaches All-State team each of the last two years.

Gaston, a native of Murphysboro, Ill., is a 5-10 guard who will join the Lynx as a freshman. He finished his prep career at Murphysboro High School averaging 17 points, three rebounds, and five assists.

Samuel, a 6-3 guard from Tampa, Fla., will be a senior athletically for the upcoming season. He spent the 2017-2018 season at Florida College in Tampa. While competing for the Falcons, Samuel played in all 29 games, starting in 11. He averaged 7.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists, all while shooting 44.2 percent from three-point range.

Mitchell, a 6-2 guard from Covington, Ga., comes to the Lynx as a junior from Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Ore. Last season, Mitchell averaged 6.7 points, two rebounds, and 1.5 assists.

Docker, a 6-5 forward from Sydney, Australia, will join the Lynx as a freshman. He attended the Shore School in Sydney, where he averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds and was twice selected to the GPS All-Conference Team.
