Nunley says she is enthusiastic about her opportunity to provide the students at Lindenwood with strong leadership and support in her role as the Dean of Students. Not only is the formation of a security division high on her priority list, but she will also oversee the new student housing program and is looking forward to the continued growth of the traditional student population.
Nunley’s range of professional experience encompasses law enforcement psychology, rehabilitation counseling, and educational psychology with an emphasis in public safety. She has also taught at the college level since 1991, including, most recently, at Lindenwood University—Belleville.
She is licensed as a clinical forensics counselor, national certified counselor, and family and civil court mediator in Illinois and Missouri. Managing her own private practice for 16 years, she specializes in children, adolescents, and family therapy.
In 1995, Nunley’s interest in law enforcement psychology led her to become the executive vice president for the Public Safety Specialist’s Group, INC, a consulting firm that specializes in public safety testing, assessment, hiring, policy construction, and accreditation. She is also certified as an instructor in crisis management and campus threat assessment from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. As the Dean of Students for Lindenwood, she is utilizing this extensive background to organize a public security division at the Belleville campus.
She has taught at Southern Illinois University’s Carbondale and Edwardsville campuses, Millikin University, Richland Community College, Southwestern Illinois College, American Intercontinental University Online, and Lindenwood University.
“Through her roles as a private business owner, college instructor, and in-home professional counselor, Nunley makes a perfect addition to the enthusiastic, experienced staff of Lindenwood Belleville,” says Vice President Jerry Bladdick.
Nunley will continue to teach psychology courses at Lindenwood as well as courses in the university’s accelerated evening program.
Nunley has a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s in rehabilitation counseling, and a doctorate from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
