More than 1,500 students took part in Lindenwood University graduate and undergraduate commencement exercises Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18. The total included 561 students at Friday’s Baccalaureate and Graduate Commencement and 972 at Saturday’s Undergraduate Commencement. Lindenwood conferred 1,531 bachelor’s degrees, 1,271 master’s degrees, 98 Educational Specialist degrees and 35 Doctor of Education degrees.
Keynote speaker for the Friday ceremony was Douglas Greenlaw, communications industry executive with leadership positions at Viacom’s MTV and Switchboard, Inc., among others. Keynote speaker for the Saturday ceremony was General Crosbie Saint (ret.), former commander in chief of the U.S. Army in Europe. Both ceremonies were held at St. Charles Family Arena, where the university has held its commencement exercises since 2007, when the size of the ceremonies outgrew even the largest indoor on-campus venue, the Hyland Arena.
This was the first year Lindenwood University-Belleville held its own commencement exercises, which were on Sunday, May 19. The St. Charles campus will also hold its first winter commencement this year on Dec. 13 in the Hyland Arena.
