Single Parent Program Receives Grant

The Boeing Employees Community has given a $25,000 grant to Lindenwood University's Single Parent Program.

The program, started in 1990, provides scholarships to single parents with young children to help them earn their college degree in a safe and stable environment.

University officials say the program has grown from 8 single mothers to 23 single mothers and single fathers who live on campus. The parents often assist each other with child care and peer support and pursue their college degrees together.

Lindenwood provides four houses for women involved in the program.
