Lindenwood University Belleville is launching a new series that will bring a diverse selection of speakers to the school in 2009-2010. The first scheduled presenters include a health expert, a member of the law enforcement community, a financial advisor, a refugee assistance volunteer, and a forensic psychologist.
All speaker series events are free and open to the public. Each presentation will take place from 5-6 p.m. in Room 216 of the campus Administration Building.
The schedule is as follows: • Thursday, Jan. 14 –Katie Barnhardt, prevention manager at Bethany Place, the largest non-profit, community based AIDS Service Organization in the metro area. She will offer her presentation, “What You Need to Know About AIDS.” • Wednesday, Jan. 20– Lieutenant Mark Berry of the O’Fallon Police Department. He will discuss background investigations. • Wednesday, Jan. 27– Dee Reed, financial advisor for Edward Jones. He will present, “Investing 101: Finding Balance in Your Budget.” • Friday, Jan. 29–Sonja Meyrer, Windsor Crossing Community Church and New City Fellowship volunteer. She will discuss regional efforts to assist relocating African and Asian refugees. • Tuesday, Feb. 23–Dr. Dan Cuneo, forensic psychologist. He specializes in evaluations involving criminal court cases throughout southern Illinois. Dr. Cuneo will present, “The Intersection of Psychology and Law.”
