Lindenwood University serves as the host of the 19th annual NAIA Women's National Soccer Championships Nov. 21-26. The host Lady Lions, who lost in the national championship game in 2000 in five overtimes, are ranked No. 4 in the nation.
"It is an honor to be selected to host the event," said Lindenwood President Dennis Spellmann. "We have an outstanding venue for soccer. It is going to be a tremendous event."
The tournament will be held at Lindenwood's Harlen C. Hunter Stadium.
Spellmann said the area would receive an economic boost from the event, which brings in 15 teams and thousands of fans over the five-day period.
"The hotels will be full and the restaurants will be busy in St. Charles," he said.
