Lindenwood University has begun interviewing candidates for the vacant head coach position of its national champion shooting team.
President James D. Evans expects to name a new coach in the final two weeks of May. Lindenwood’s shooting team will most definitely begin competing again in the fall, Evans said.
The team was suspended from competition after an alcohol-related incident on the team bus when the bus was returning from the national championships in San Antonio, Texas.
“Our new coach will assure adherence to all rules and regulations of the university and all the safety precautions that must be taken when firearms are being transported,” said Dr. Rick Boyle, vice president for human resources. “We will hire an individual who will help a great team become even greater. He or she will be of the highest moral character, integrity, and competence in the sport.”
Boyle said interest in the position has been overwhelming and that applicants are from all across the country.
