What is the IRB Application Assignment?
This series of assignments gradually introduces students to the process of completing an IRB application. The materials presented are specific to the Lindenwood University IRB application, but can be easily revised to match any institution's IRB process. During this series of assignments, students will gradually develop and refine a specific research idea. Each stage of the assignment introduces more complex ethical and regulatory issues to consider as their ideas take shape.
This assignment helps students understand the concepts and practical issues involved with developing a human subjects research protocol. It also provides hands-on experience in negotiating the IRB application and review process. These experiences will help students better comprehend parallel coursework in the history of human subjects research ethics and regulation, IRB review, and similar content areas.
