Multicultural Organizations

Hello! The Office of Greek Life at Lindenwood University is very excited that you are interested in joining a National Pan-Hellenic (NPHC) Chapter. This is a great opportunity for Lindenwood University students to become involved in Fraternity and Sorority Life! At Lindenwood, we do not have chapters specific to our campus. However, most of the organizations have city-wide chapters in St. Louis made up of students attending the various institutions in the area. The Office of Greek Life is committed to serving all affiliated on our campus and look forward to working with you as well.

NPHC is the umbrella organization of the nine historically, but not exclusively, African-American fraternities and sororities. Collectively, these organizations are known as the “Divine Nine.” The NPHC was founded in 1930 with the mission and purpose of “Unanimity of thought and action as far as possible in the conduct of Greek letter collegiate fraternities and sororities, and to consider problems of mutual interest to its member organizations” (Mission). Hazing and Pledging were banned by the NPHC in 1990 and were replaced by the member intake process. Intake varies by organization but is clearly defined by each organization as well as the graduate chapter in St. Louis. Prior to intake, each organization will host will host an informational event where interested students can meet current members and show their interest in affiliating. For more information, please see the individual websites below. It is important to note that any student interested in affiliating with a city-wide chapter should complete the NPHC City-Wide Affiliation Interest Form on Involve U. This will allow the Office of Greek Life an opportunity to work with you and provide you with available resources.
