While the University recommends that students remain home after Thanksgiving break, on-campus housing and dining will remain open until December 11, 2020.

Can I still sign up to live on campus for the 2020 – 2021 academic year?

Yes. Students may sign up for housing via the StarRez portal.

What is being done to prepare for fall semester on-campus housing?

Residential Life is currently establishing plans surrounding health and safety in the residences for the fall semester, in consultation with CDC and University Leadership. Our intention is to provide students with a positive on-campus experience while abiding by all local, state, and federal protocols. These plans may change as we continue to monitor and respond to recommendations and guidelines from the appropriate authorities. More information will be shared with incoming residents via email as details are finalized. We will also post updates on the Residential Life website throughout the summer.

Will I have to wear a face covering in the residence halls and houses?

Face coverings are required in the residence hall, but not while you are in your room. If you live in the houses, you are not required to have a face mask in your private residence.

Can I have my temperature checked in the residence halls or houses?

Yes. Seven days a week between 12 p.m. – 12 a.m., the Community Advisor at the front desk of the residence hall and Lodge will have a digital thermometer that you may use to check your temperature. The Linden Terrace Office, located at 2207 Charbo, will have a digital thermometer for the houses. House residents can use this digital thermometer to check their temperature Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Should you need to check your temperature, please contact your Area Coordinator.

Yes, on-campus locations have been identified to self-isolate residential students who have tested positive for COVID-19. If I cannot come to the US due to travel restrictions, am I eligible for my housing deposit refund?

We will carry your housing deposit over to the Spring 2021 term.

I am in international student, am I able to cancel my housing contract without penalty, if I cannot travel to the United States?

Yes. In August, you will notify Residence Life that you cannot travel to the US, thus you need to cancel your housing contract for the Fall 2020 term

Will students receive pro-rated tuition for the Fall 2020 term?

The modality for the final few weeks is simply shifting from hybrid to fully virtual after November 20. Course content and credit hours will not be impacted. Therefore, we do not have plans for pro-rating fall tuition as the level of engagement from faculty and students will not change. It’s important to us that our students receive the same quality education we’ve promised throughout the entire semester.

Will students who choose to remain home after November 20 receive pro-rated room & board?

Campus residences and dining facilities will remain open for all students who wish or need to return to campus, through the end of the semester. We do not plan to pro-rate room and board as all students have the option to remain on campus beyond November 20th, should they choose to return following the Thanksgiving break.
