What is Instructional Technology?

Instructional technology is a rapidly evolving field of study and expertise with many exciting possibilities in education and business alike. Today, nearly every industry requires professionals with knowledge of current technology trends and how to not only implement these tools, but also how to best leverage them for learning and instruction. Whether working with students or training colleagues, instructional best practices include the master of technology.

Lindenwood’s Instructional Technology program will give you the necessary skills to incorporate technology to design and deliver effective instruction through a variety of methods. Courses include learning theory and practice, how to transform teaching, including and creating multimedia, designing for active learning, and cultivating an innovator’s mindset.

As the landscape of education and training continues to change and include increasingly virtual options, the need for candidates who are able to develop engaging learning experiences will only become greater. How Do I Earn an Instructional Technology Degree?

The instructional technology degree offered by Lindenwood University consists of 30 credit hours broken into five core courses and seven core specialty courses, including a technology seminar, internship and capstone research project. All courses are available using our student portal. You just need a computer (and a printer is suggested), and you can earn a master’s degree that fits into your schedule. You can earn your degree remotely and according to schedules convenient to you. In addition, most of the courses are offered in an eight-week format, allowing you to complete the program at an accelerated pace; therefore, you can complete the program in less than two years while never taking more than two courses at a time.

What Can I Do with an Instructional Technology Degree from Lindenwood University?

After earning your instructional technology master’s degree from Lindenwood University, you will be qualified to work in public, private, charter and cyber schools for pre-K, elementary and secondary education. Graduates also work in institutions of higher learning, including technology schools, vocational schools, junior colleges and four-year universities.
