The Arts - Music Ensembles @ Lindenwood

Choral classics, contemporary works, spirituals, opera, folksongs. novelties, Broadway, world music—the University Chorus performs all genres of choral literature. The choir is non-auditioned and open to all LU students who love to sing.

Performing challenging music of the Western European classical tradition, as well as cutting edge 20th century and world music, the LU Concert Choir is open to all students by audition.

Under the direction of Pamela Grooms, Lindenwood’s premiere a cappella ensemble — Voices Only — performs extensively throughout the year. Membership is open to all LU students by audition. Listen to their debut CD!

Whether performing a concerto, a symphony, a musical, or a jazz ballad, the Lindenwood University Symphonic Orchestra (LUSO) is committed to executing all masterpieces with a commitment of excellence. Under the baton of Professor Wm. Shane Williams, the LUSO continues to reach its audience through exciting programming and passionate music. The symphonic orchestra is open to all Lindenwood students by audition.

The LU Pit Ensemble performs in conjunction with students in Lindenwood's Theatre Department.

The only collegiate marching band in the St. Louis region, Lindenwood’s Golden Lion Marching Band includes brass, woodwind, percussion, and color guard. The band performs throughout the fall semester and is open to all students with a passion for music in motion.

Dedicated to the highest levels of musical artistry, the Symphonic Band performs traditional and contemporary concert literature with instrumentations that range from full symphonic to one-on-a-part.

Performing standards and contemporary charts by today's leading composers and arrangers, the Lindenwood Jazz Bands and Combos are open to all LU students by audition.

Dedicated to supporting Lindenwood athletics, the LU Pep Band is a high-energy group that performs pop, rock, jazz, funk, and everything in between. The ensemble also provides a powerful venue for student arrangers.

Performing a wealth of diverse concert literature, students in the Conductor's Band and Choir create live, music-making laboratories where pre-service music educators practice their craft. The experience concludes with the annual Student Conductors Concert.

Students at Lindenwood also enjoy music-making opportunities through participation in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (music fraternity for men), Sigma Alpha Iota (music fraternity for women), several chamber ensembles (guitar, string, woodwind, brass, and percussion), and private lessons for piano voice, guitar, bass guitar, percussion, and all orchestral woodwind, brass, and string instruments.
