Dance Audition Information
We are excited to hear of your interest in our dance program! Each year, we welcome an eclectic group of aspiring artists who have goals of performing, teaching, and choreographing. It is highly recommended that prospective students apply to the university before auditioning for the dance program.
Due to safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, all auditions for 2021-2022 candidates will be conducted virtually through a video conferencing platform. Prospective students will take two technique classes, chosen from either ballet, contemporary, jazz, or tap, taught by Lindenwood Dance Faculty. The audition will be used to place prospective students in appropriate technique levels and to determine eligibility for our selective Fine and Performing Arts grants.
In addition to technique classes, students will also share a one-minute solo in a genre of dance of their choice and complete an interview with dance faculty. Depending on scheduling, prospective students should expect the audition to take 2-3 hours, on a weekday, to complete.
An audition is required for prospective Bachelor of Fine Arts candidates.
Bachelor of Arts candidates are also encouraged to attend.
It is the Dance Program's preference that students audition as early in the season as possible. Submit audition materials at least two weeks prior to the desired audition date.
To better serve our prospective students, we will not be scheduling these virtual auditions as a group experience. Instead, we would like to see one student per audition day. To schedule your audition day, and to learn more about our degree offerings, please contact Tricia Zweier.
