Students must apply and audition for acceptance into the BFA Theatre programs (Acting, Musical Theatre, Directing, Stage Management, and Technical Theatre/Design). Please note: Students may not receive program acceptance or scholarship offers until they have been fully accepted into the university.

Admissions Process:

Step One:

Apply to Lindenwood University

Step Two:

Prepare for your audition/interview and register to audition in person or via video (Registration).

BFA in Acting

  • One Minute Dramatic Contemporary Monologue
  • One Minute Comedic Contemporary Monologue OR a 16 Bar Musical Theatre Song Selection
  • Statement of Intent (up to 250 words)
  • Interview with Theatre Faculty
  • Headshot and Resume

BFA in Directing

  • Perform a One Minute Contemporary Monologue
  • Submit a 2-3 Page Paper Discussing a Play of Your Choosing and How You'd Approach Directing That Particular Production (due with materials on Feb. 7)
  • Interview with Faculty
  • Headshot and Resume

BFA in Musical Theatre

  • ACTING
    • One Minute Contemporary Monologue
  • VOCAL
    • Two contrasting musical theatre songs (16 bars each)
      Be prepared to sight sing upon request
  • DANCE 
    • Submit a dance audition video. This should be at least one video (five max) showcasing 60-75 seconds of your dance technique. You may showcase ballet, jazz, tap, and/or musical theatre. (REQUIRED for Musical Theatre, OPTIONAL for Acting). Submit videos/links to videos through the audition registration website.
  • Provide your Headshot and Resume
  • Statement of Intent (up to 250 words)
  • Interview with Theatre, Music, and Dance Faculty (via SKYPE for video submissions)

BFA in Stage Management

  • Statement of Intent (up to 250 words)
  • Interview with Theatre Faculty
  • Production Book and Portfolio Review *
  • Resume

BFA in Tech Theatre/Design (Audio, Costumes, Lighting, and Scenery)

  • Statement of Intent (up to 250 words)
  • Portfolio Review*
  • Interview with Theatre Faculty
  • Resume

*We do not want to discourage technical theatre/design or stage management students who have not had extensive experience or did not archive their past work in a portfolio. Therefore, we will interview students and review their resume without the existence of an extensive portfolio. Please contact John O'Hagan if you have any questions or concerns.

During On Campus Days you’ll be able to meet current faculty and students, tour campus, visit classes and see productions. (November 12 – tech rehearsals for Intimate Apparel; February 18 – performance of Dead Man’s Cell Phone)

After February 18

We will gladly continue to accept video audition / interview submissions through April 15, 2022. Please see details below.

We also encourage individual campus visits. We're happy to work with you and the admissions team on planning your visit.

Video Submissions

To audition and interview via video, please register and submit your materials.

Video auditions will be accepted throughout the year; however, scholarship funds may be limited or unavailable as we near the beginning of the 2022-23 academic year. Please contact John O'Hagan if you have any questions or concerns.
