VOCAL ENSEMBLES

The University Chorus is a non-auditioned ensemble that performs all genres of choral literature, including choral classics, contemporary works, spirituals, folk songs, and world music. The choir is open to all Lindenwood University students and community members who love to sing.  Rehearsals are Tuesday nights from 7-8:30 p.m.

The Lindenwood University Concert Choir performs challenging music of the Western European classical tradition as well as cutting-edge 20th century and world music. The Lindenwood University Concert Choir is open to all students by audition.

Under the direction of Pamela Grooms, Lindenwood’s premiere a cappella ensemble Voices Only performs extensively throughout the year on campus and in the community. Membership is open to all Lindenwood students by audition.

INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLES

Dedicated to the highest levels of musical artistry, the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band perform traditional and contemporary concert literature with instrumentations that range from full symphonic to one-on-a-part. Concert ensembles meet in both the fall and spring semester and are open to all students regardless of major.

The Lindenwood University Pit Orchestra is made up of students, faculty members, and area musicians. They work with the Theatre program by accompanying shows as needed. Recent shows include Legally Blonde, Into the Woods, Mary Poppins, and Threepenny Opera.

JAZZ AND CONTEMPORARY MUSIC ENSEMBLES

The Lindenwood University Jazz Band is dedicated to performing standards and contemporary charts by the leading composers and arrangers of today and yesterday. Emphasis is placed on artistic interpretation of new works as well as faithful recreations of traditional big band literature. The Jazz Band is open to all by audition.

Endeavor is an experimental jazz small group of varying instrumentation dedicated to exploring the cutting edge of improvised music. Literature is comprised of original tunes by the ensemble members, as well as creative adaptations of standards.

The Modern Music Ensemble is a contemporary ensemble and serves as the premiere group of the Music Business & Entrepreneurship program. Emphasis is placed on arrangement of modern and popular tunes across all commercial genres.

CHAMBER MUSIC ENSEMBLES

The Lindenwood University Music Program also offers the following chamber ensembles:

LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY ATHLETIC BANDS

One of the few collegiate marching bands in the St. Louis region, The Lindenwood University Lion Pride Marching Band includes brass, woodwind, color guard, and percussion. Dedicated to supporting Lindenwood athletics, the band performs throughout the fall semester and is open to all students with a passion for music in motion.

The Lindenwood University Pep Band is a high-energy group that performs pop, rock, jazz, funk, and everything in between. The ensemble also provides a powerful venue for student arrangers. As a Lindenwood student, scholarships are available for participating in the athletic bands regardless of major.
