Thesis Guidelines

The Graduate Thesis course is required for all MFA in Writing students in your final term with us.

The thesis course is designed to support students in producing a polished draft that is publication ready. The course also serves as a bridge between the weekly structure of MFA courses and the self-directed writing life beyond the program. As such, this is a  “studio” course, designed to provide open time and supportive structures to help you  focus on your drafting.

Note that for the 2023-2024 year, we have two versions of the thesis course: A 3-credit version and a 6-credit version.

The 6-credit version is required for students who entered the program in Fall 2022.

The 3-credit version is an older model of the thesis that can be taken by students who entered the program prior to Fall 2022.

If you have questions about this, please contact your advisor.
