Students will also enjoy a succinct number of hours that allow for the pursuit of minors, certificates, and double majors. In addition to their core courses, the program’s flexibility allows for students to focus on their area of interest through generous electives.
Art, Design, and Media Technology
The technologies and strategies involved in visual communication are constantly changing. More and more, there is a need for a wider range of skills and knowledge of various hardware and software in order to meet the challenges of communicating ideas across various media, including traditional print design, graphic and web design, mobile interfaces, and even augmented and virtual reality. This trend requires that artists and designers have a strong foundation in the principles in design, as well as a knowledge of the tools available to best craft and express different types of messages. You could be part of this exciting and ever-changing field where you will learn to continually improve your visual communication skills and learn how to adapt different media to meet new creative challenges. When you are a Lindenwood University art, design, and media student, you will be prepared for the professional world, now and in the future.
This program has immersive reality technologies integrated throughout the curriculum and requires use of a virtual reality headset identified by the department and associated applications. Immersive realities, such as virtual reality, provide a fully immersive educational experience that leads to greater engagement and understanding of subjects covered in classes. Students are not only able to engage with the material, other students, and their instructor; they also can better understand the context of those relationships while immersed in the virtual environment. These experiences support the learning outcomes for the program and prepare students for use of these technologies in their professions.
