Jeffrey Barudin

Dr. Jeffrey BarudinDr. Jeffrey Barudin is a dynamic and innovative percussion performer and pedagogue. He has performed as a soloist and ensemble member around the world, including several performances at PASIC and PAS Days of Percussion. He has also participated in numerous world premiere performances and recordings. His playing has been praised as having "...the naturalness of conversation" and "joy that cascades from every note."

Ryan Curtis

Dr. Ryan CurtisDr. Ryan Curtis is an associate professor and director of bands at Lindenwood University, where he supervises the concert, marching, and pep bands. He is currently in his 16th year of teaching and 11th year serving Lindenwood University. He received a Bachelor of Science in education from Missouri State University, a Master of Music Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in instructional leadership from Lindenwood University.

Adam Donohue

Adam DonohueProfessor Adam Donohue received his Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston. He then began an eight-year tenure as a musical director in the cruise line industry, after which he went on to earn a Master of Arts in music from Washington State University with an emphasis in jazz composition and saxophone.

Pamela Grooms

Pamela GroomsPamela Grooms has been an active music educator since 1986. She presently serves as Music Department chair, professor of choral music education, professor of piano, and music director for all musical theatre productions at Lindenwood University.

Matt Hoormann

Matt HoormannA versatile and respected performer, clinician, and educator, Dr. Matt Hoormann received both a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of California Los Angeles, all in trombone performance.

Adjunct Faculty

  • Keely Abeln - Private French Horn - Keely Abeln teaches applied french horn lessons at Lindenwood University. She is primarily a band director for the Parkway School District, where she works at Parkway South Middle School.

  • Matthew Allison, DMA - Private Flute, Woodwind Ensemble, New Music Ensemble - Dr. Matthew Allison is the flute instructor at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, as well as at O'Fallon Township, Belleville East, and Granite City High Schools in Illinois. He is a founding member of NakedEye Ensemble, which is dedicated to promoting new music. Matthew also works with musicians' total health as a certified and experienced yoga instructor.

  • Leslie Allnatt, DMA - Music History I and II, Private Voice, Vocal Pedagogy and Literature - Dr. Leslie Allnatt is an adjunct professor at Lindenwood University where she teaches applied voice and music history. She has previously taught at the University of Louisville and at the University of Iowa as well as maintaining a private voice studio. Dr. Allnatt has performed in choirs and operas in the United States, Austria, Poland, and England.

  • Bob Baker - Music Marketing, Special Topics Courses in DIY Musicianship - Bob Baker is an author, speaker, musician, and former music magazine editor dedicated to showing musicians of all kinds how to get exposure, connect with fans, sell more music, and increase their incomes through their artistic passions. He is the author of the highly acclaimed Guerrilla Music Marketing Handbook and created the Music Marketing 101 course for Berklee Online. He is one of the most widely recognized authorities on music marketing, and has been called the “Godfather of Independent Music Marketing”.

  • Robert H. Baker, DMA - Private Oboe - Robert Hart Baker serves the Lindenwood music department as their applied oboe professor. He has been the conductor of the St. Louis Philharmonic since 1982, and is the principal guest conductor with the Asheville Lyric Opera Company since 2004.

  • Kathleen Baker – Class Piano, Accompanist - Kathleen Baker is an in-demand piano instructor and accompanist in the greater St. Louis area. In addition to maintaining a private studio, she is actively involved with the music departments at Lindenwood University, Francis Howell High School, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

  • Donita Bauer - Private Bassoon - Donita Bauer is principal bassoon with Metropolitan Orchestra, St Louis Philharmonic Orchestra, Bach Society, Union Avenue Opera and Masterworks Chorale, and serves as an extra section member for several other ensembles. She is the bassoon instructor at Lindenwood University and University of Missouri-St. Louis.

  • Zebadiah Briskovich - Private Bass Guitar - "Zeb" Briskovich is the top call bassist in the St. Louis region on both electric and acoustic bass. He is known for his versatility and expertise in a wide range of musical genres. Zeb’s mission as an instructor is to inspire students to be well-rounded and versatile musicians. Currently he leads the group Rare Departure which is his own jazz-fusion project.

  • Zachary Devin - Private Voice, Opera Workshop - Zachary Devin is an internationally recognized operatic tenor praised for his superb and impassioned voice. In addition to teaching at Lindenwood, Mr. Devin has performed with Winter Opera St. Louis, Union Avenue Opera, and the St. Louis Symphony Chorus.

  • Travis Evans - Music Theory - Travis is an adjunct faculty member at St. Charles Community College, University of Missouri-St. Louis, and Lindenwood University, teaching courses in music appreciation, organ and piano, and music theory. In addition to his academic work, he has also served his community as a church musician.

  • Hannah Frey - Private Violin - Hannah Frey is the violin and viola teacher at Lindenwood and also teaches violin at Washington University. She plays with a variety of groups in the area, including the Perseid Quartet, Winter Opera St. Louis, and the Metropolitan Orchestra of St. Louis.

  • Jon Garrett - Private Voice, Accompanist - Jon Garrett is a collaborative pianist, composer, recording artist, musical theater director, conductor, operatic tenor, and piano and voice teacher. He has performed with Winter Opera St. Louis, Union Avenue Opera, the Saint Louis Chamber Chorus, Missouri Ballet Theatre and Stray Dog Theatre. Jon serves as an adjunct professor of voice and staff accompanist at Lindenwood University. He is also the Minister of Music at Grace United Church of Christ in O'Fallon, Missouri.

  • Jim Hegarty - Private Jazz Piano - James H. Hegarty is a jazz artist with a wide field of influences. His topics of interest include cultural and social diversity, the juxtaposition of contemporary topics with historical reference, and arts activism. Hegarty's colorful, dynamic, and fluid works in sound, video, theatre, and performance are inspired by literature and the arts, non-idiomatic improvisation, and contemporary cultures.

  • Jeffrey Heyl, DMA - Intro. To Music Literature, Private Voice - Bass-baritone Jeffrey Heyl presently teaches voice at Lindenwood University, Urshan College, and the Community Music School. He also is Director of Music & Worship at Green Trails United Methodist Church. Dr. Heyl has sung extensively and has appeared in opera, oratorio, recital, and music theatre, including Carmina Burana, Ein Deutches Requiem, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Mass in C.

  • Rebecca Hill - Music in America, Private Clarinet, Woodwind Techniques - Rebecca Hill is an active freelance musician and music educator in the St. Louis area. She is 2nd clarinet for the Paducah (KY) Symphony Orchestra, and also performs with many recognized ensembles in St. Louis. As an educator, she teaches clarinet, saxophone, and piano lessons, in addition to music appreciation and American popular music.

  • Stephanie Hunt - Private Cello - Stephanie Hunt has gained international recognition as a performer on both the cello and the baroque cello. In addition to teaching at Lindenwood and the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville Suzuki program, she performs with the Perseid String Quartet, Chamber Project St. Louis, and La Petite Brise, an early music ensemble.

  • Darcie Johnson - Class Voices, Private Voice - Darcie Johnson has been an active performer and teacher in the St. Louis since 2008. She is Soprano I section leader for Bach Society of St. Louis and The Church of St. Michael and St. George. She has also been a featured soloist with Bach Society, the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra, and Manchester United Methodist Church. Darcie teaches Private Voice, Class Voice, and Singers Diction courses at Lindenwood.

  • Darren LaCour, PhD - Music Theory I, II, III, IV - Dr. Darren LaCour has served as Lindenwood’s music theory coordinator since 2016, and also teaches at Washington University and Webster University. Trained as a guitarist, his primary research focuses on the music of Duke Ellington, recorded sound, and music theory pedagogy.

  • Huiyun Liang - Private Piano - Huiyun Liang is currently a DMA candidate in Piano Pedagogy and has presented at several conferences on her research of innovative teaching techniques. She also continues to perform actively as a soloist and chamber musician.

  • Bernard Long, Jr. - Private Drum Set - Bernard Long, Jr. is an accomplished jazz drum set artist, having performed and directed several notable groups and toured with many recognized jazz musicians. He is currently the band director at Normandy High School and is active throughout the community as a musician and an educator. Mr. Long is a Zildjian cymbals Education Artist.

  • Paula Martin - Choir, Private Voice, Secondary Music Methods - Paula Martin has been an active music educator since 1980. She presently serves as an adjunct professor of choral music education, professor of voice, and directs the University Chorus and Select Women’s Ensemble.

  • Andy Tichenor - Private Trumpet - Andy Tichenor is a top freelance trumpet player in the St. Louis area, holding positions at both the Muny Opera and the Fox Theatre. In this capacity, he has performed many of Broadway’s most recognized shows. He is in high demand as a clinician and musician, and has also published an advanced trumpet method book, “Trumpet Mania!”.

  • Brian Vaccaro - Guitar Ensemble, Jazz Combo, Improvisation, Private Guitar, Jazz History - Brian Vaccaro is recognized as one of the top guitar teachers in the St. Louis area, teaching at both Lindenwood and Grand Center Arts Academy. He is an active performer and has performed with many of the top jazz artists in the region.

  • Jessica Woodworth - Private Voice - Jessica Woodworth has served many roles in her career, including music director, accompanist, orchestra member. As a university professor she has taught voice and piano lessons, music technology, music history, and music theory. She holds degrees in both Music Education and Performance, and previously served on the faculty at Hannibal LaGrange University.
