Biographical Information

Professor Adam Donohue received his Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston. He then began an eight-year tenure as a musical director in the cruise line industry, after which he went on to earn a Master of Arts in music from Washington State University with an emphasis in jazz composition and saxophone.

A variety of teaching positions have been held by Donohue, including Full Sail University in Orlando, Fla., where he taught composition, music theory, and recording, and Elon University in Elon, N.C., where he taught music technology, arranging, and music business. He has taught saxophone and clarinet for more than two decades.

While living in North Carolina, Donohue founded a music production company and toured regionally with a jazz/funk ensemble called Hot Politics, which released their first studio album in 2008. He worked as a sound designer for Notion Music Inc., which developed software for music notation. As chief audio engineer for the American Dance Festival, he oversaw and trained assistant engineers while working with some of the top performers and choreographers in contemporary dance. Additionally, Donohue is the music production manager for the J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts at Lindenwood, where he resides over all recording/production and academic live music production, as well as audio support for academic dance performances.

He has published several original compositions for jazz orchestra and composes music for dance. Notable performances include playing with Jeff Coffin from the Dave Matthews Band, jazz vocalist Kevin Mahogany, actress/comedienne/guitarist Charo, and John Handy, saxophonist with Charles Mingus.
